Line2Box : Dots and Boxes Game 1.16

Line2Box is a straightforward digital adaptation of a classic pen-and-paper game designed for two players. It maintains the simplicity of the traditional game while offering an engaging experience for users.

Rules

The game initiates with an empty grid composed of dots, customizable in size from a selection provided by Gametable's Dots and Boxes collection. Players alternate turns, connecting two unlinked adjacent dots either horizontally or vertically. Completing the fourth side of a 1x1 box awards the player one point and grants an additional turn. The game concludes when all lines are drawn and boxes are claimed; the player with the highest score emerges victorious. In case of equal scores, the game results in a tie.

Historical Context

The concept of Dots and Boxes has its origins in paper-based gameplay, traditionally played with pencils. It was first documented by French mathematician Édouard Lucas in the 19th century under the name La Pipopipette.
